Meagan Good Reveals Friends Gave Advice Dating Jonathan Majors

Jonathan Majors knows a good thing when he sees one.

The Lovecraft Country alum married Meagan Good after nearly two years of dating, according to multiple outlets. The nuptials mark the first marriage for Jonathan, 35, and the second for Meagan, 43, who was previously married to DeVon Franklin from 2012 to 2022.

E! News has reached out to reps for Jonathan and Meagan for comment but has not heard back.

The newlyweds first met in October 2022 at the Ebony Power 100 Gala and began dating in May 2023. The following year, they chose the annual bash as the occasion to announce their engagement, bringing their romance full circle.

“EBONY Power 100 is the event that we met at in the bathrooms,” Meagan told E! News at the gala, “in the unisex bathroom.”

Since going public with their relationship, Meagan hasn’t been shy about sharing how Jonathan has impacted her life, previously describing their love story  as “an amazing journey, and I cherish it deeply.”

“This relationship has taught me about unconditional love,” the Harlem star told Ebony in January. “What it means to be loved in the fullness of who you are and to love someone who brings out the best in you.”

Likewise, Jonathan has also expressed his gratitude for Meagan, whom he started seeing amid a wave of legal woes. Two months before debuting their romance, he was arrested in New York City for allegedly assaulting his ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari, though he maintained his innocence.

And while he was eventually found guilty of misdemeanor assault and harassment and sentenced to 52 weeks of in-person counseling as well as ordered to pay a $250 fine, according to NBC News, he credited Meagan for being among those who stood by him after the verdict.

“I'm really blessed,” he told Good Morning America in January 2024. “I'm surrounded by people who love me, who care about me. But this has been very, very, very hard, and very difficult, and confusing in many ways. But I'm standing.”

October 2022: Meagan Good & Jonathan Majors Meet

Three months after Meagan Good and producer DeVon Franklin finalized their divorce, she attended the 2022 EBONY Power 100 gala. It was there that she met her future fiancé Jonathan Majors.

"EBONY Power 100 is the event that we met at in the bathroom," the actress told E! News' Francesca Amiker while attending the fête two years later, "in the unisex bathroom."

And while Good told People there "was instant chemistry," she admitted she "wasn't really in that mind frame" to start dating again.

"Then we re-met again about four months later," she continued, "and I was like, 'This is gonna happen. This is gonna happen.' And it did."

May 2023: Romance Reports

However, it wouldn't be until May 2023 that reports spread the two were dating.

The relationship news came less than two months after Majors was arrested in New York on charges of harassment and assault for his alleged involvement in a domestic dispute with a woman, who was later identified as his ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari. He denied the allegations, with his attorney telling NBC News in March 2023 Majors "is completely innocent."

June 2023: Supporting Him in Court

In June 2023, Majors appeared in court, where an August trial date was set. Good stood by his side and held his hand as they left the hearing.

August 2023: The Trial

During the trial—which was initially scheduled to begin in August 2023 but then got postponed until November of that year—the Cousin Skeeter alum continued to be there for the Lovecraft Country actor. Majors pleaded not guilty to his charges.

According to the Associated Press, Jabbari was arrested for alleged assault and criminal mischief in October 2023 after Majors accused her of attacking him, but the charges were dropped the next day. Doug Cohen, press secretary for the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, told the outlet the office "officially declined to prosecute the case against Grace Jabbari because it lacks prosecutorial merit."

Jabbari's attorney Ross Kramer told the AP the DA's office "carefully reviewed all the facts of the case and concluded that Ms. Jabbari was the victim, and not the perpetrator," adding that the arrest had been "unfortunate and re-traumatizing."

Meanwhile, Majors' attorney Dustin Pusch told NBC News "it is a serious injustice that the District Attorney continues to move forward with its case against him."

December 2023: Verdict Is In

In December 2023, Majors was found guilty of one count of assault in the third degree and one count of harassment in second degree. He was also found not

guilty of another count of assault in the third degree and of a count of aggravated harassment.

"I was absoLutely shocked and afraid," the Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania alum, who was dropped by Marvel after the verdict, said in a January 2024 interview with ABC News. "I'm standing there, and the verdict comes down, I say, 'How is that possible based off the evidence, based off the prosecution's evidence let alone our evidence? How is that possible?'"

Majors also told the outlet he's "never struck a woman, ever."

Jabbari's attorney Brittany Henderson responded to the interview by telling ABC News, in part, "The timing of these new statements demonstrates a clear lack of remorse for the actions for which he was found guilty and should make the sentencing decisions fairly easy for the Court."

As for his relationship with Good, Majors called her an "angel" for her support.

"I'm so blessed to have her," he told the outlet. "The relationship is still fresh, but I think I found her. I hope she'll just stick with me."

March 2024: Red Carpet Official

The pair made their red carpet debut as a couple in March 2024 at the African American Film Critics Association Special Achievement Awards luncheon in Los Angeles.

And while speaking to E! News at the NAACP Awards later that month, Good confirmed Majors is the one and that they're in love.

"She holds me down," Majors added to E! about their support for each other. "I hold her down."

According to NBC News, citing court documents, Jabbari also filed a lawsuit against Majors in March 2024 and accused him of defamation, malicious prosecution, assault and battery—alleging he abused her at other points in their relationship. His attorney told the outlet he was "preparing counterclaims" against his ex.

But in November 2024, Jabbari dropped the lawsuit, with court documents obtained by NBC News noting "all claims against Defendant in the above-captioned action are hereby dismissed with prejudice."

April 2024: Sentencing

Nearly three months after his trial conviction, Majors was sentenced to a 52-week counseling program as well as a $250 charge. Again, Good showed her support for him as they made their way to the courtroom.

June 2024: Award Show Shout-Out

While accepting the Perseverance Award at the Hollywood Unlocked Impact Awards, Majors cried as he reiterated how much Good means to him.

"I love you beyond limit, with all my strength, with all my heart," he said in a video shared by The Hollywood Reporter's Chris Gardner. Majors also reflected on how the Harlem star "carried me so, so, so, so many nights."

July 2024: Making Her Own Decisions

And Good has sent the love right back.

"The support that we've been able to give each other, the pouring into each other, the honest conversations, the love, the respect, just the care and the thoughtfulness," she said on a July 2024 episode of Today when asked how they've been able to navigate their relationship, "it's been just really wonderful."

And while she said "every friend advised" her to wait until Majors' court case was over to begin a relationship, the Shazam! actress chose to follow her heart.

“One thing I know is that I can always look myself in the mirror when I trust my spirit, when I trust God, when I ask God, and when I move to the beat of my own drum, I can always look and say, 'OK, I’m proud of that,'" she added. “No matter whatever happens, I have peace in my heart and I have harmony in my heart."

Even though Good said she always considers her loved ones' opinions, "at the end of the day, I’m the one who has to live my life and I'm the one who has to get to heaven one day, prayerfully, and give God an account of what I did."

"I want to be responsible for the choices that I make," she continued. "I also want to live the life that I want to live.”

November 2024: Engaged

Two years after they first crossed paths, Good revealed her engagement to Majors by debuting her ring at the 2024 Ebony Power 100 gala.

"Truthfully, we did two proposals," she told E! News’ Francesca Amiker at the EBONY Power 100 gala in Los Angeles on Nov. 17. “I was just thinking about the second one. Yeah, we’re gonna keep it to ourselves. I was very shocked, and it was wonderful. I was like, 'Wait, are you serious babe?' And then later on, some months later, was another, and I was like, 'Baby!'"

As Majors put it about the double proposal, "Don't do anything halves."
