What Isabella Strahan Wishes She Did Amid Brain Cancer Journey
Isabella Strahan is focused on moving forward—literally.
The 20-year-old daughter of Good Morning America co-anchor Michael Strahan admitted she would have done a few things differently as she reflected on her brain cancer journey, which began in October 2023.
“I lost a lot of weight during my treatments, which was bound to happen because my appetite was out and I was nauseous all the time,” she said on the March 1 episode of the Beyond the Battlefront podcast. “But one thing I wish I did was move.”
Isabella, who announced she was cancer-free in July, explained that she “did not want to move” during treatment, but it made her recovery more difficult later on.
“I wish I just made myself walk, even 100 steps a day because I lost so much of my leg muscle,” Isabella went on. “It was not funny. It’s not fun to get back because I’m paying for it now trying to work out and everything. I’d tell myself, ‘Move. Move yourself. Drink a lot of water.’ All the health stuff.”
In addition to the physical impact of her diagnosis, the University of Southern California student also spoke about how it affected her emotional well-being.

“At the beginning of my journey, I was not so positive,” she recalled. “I only kind of thought about the worst things that could happen. And I think that’s pretty detrimental.”
As a result, Isabella encouraged others dealing with similar struggles to remain as optimistic as possible.
“Always have a positive mindset and not shut yourself off like, ‘This is the end. Life is never gonna get better,’” she insisted. “I definitely was that person and now I’m trying to see how I can not be that person.”
