Lady Gaga Flashes Engagement Ring That Inspired ‘Blade of Grass’

Lady Gaga and Bowen Yang recently made an important announcement: the word slay is out.
During a Saturday Night Live sketch March 8, the two were seen at brunch with friends, where one declared everything is “such a slay.” To which Bowen interrupted, “We have to tell you guys something so important that we have to sing it to you.”
He then grabbed a mic and began, “We can’t just repeat one word, when there’s so many more to use,” with Gaga following, “So we’ve made a big decision, for all of us and you.”
“No more slay, no more slay” they sang out together. “We know if sounds impossible but there’s other words to say.”
And indeed, when one of the friends asked what they should say instead if they like a woman’s dress, Gaga replied, “Great question. We’ll just say, ‘Heather, your dress looks nice.’”
To which Bowen finished, “‘Yes, it’s blue and I like that. Goodbye Heather.’”
But, slay isn’t the only word they say has got to go. Also out: bop, flex, pooping on the mother toilet, feet on people’s necks, bae, sus, and—a recent one‚ a nod to Gaga herself—no more reheating nachos.
After all, slang can get tricky. “I’m confused,” Gaga sang, “that living means the same thing as dead.”

But really, Gaga and Bowen were just looking out for everyone else.
As the Grammy winner pointed out, “Because on the day before the world ends, we don’t want the last thing you say to be, ‘This is not a slay.’”
A point that rang true.
“I think I see what you two mean,” Ego Nwodim told the camera. “The other day, my therapist asked me how I was doing and all I could think to say was, ‘Diva down.’”
