Oscars 2025: Adrien Brody Absolutely Refuses to Cut His Acceptance Speech Short

Harvey Weinstein has entered the chat.

The disgraced media mogul shared his reaction, through his rep Juda Engelmayer, after Oscars Best Actor winner Adrien Brody—whose partner is Harvey’s ex-wife Georgina Chapman—made reference to Harvey and Georgina’s kids in his acceptance speech.

“Harvey is happy for Georgina,” a rep for Harvey—who is currently serving a 16-year sentence in California for rape and sexual assault—shared with Us Weekly, “and grateful that his kids are being loved and cared for as they deserve to be.”

Harvey and Georgina—who share kids India, 14, and Dashiell, 11—were married for 10 years before she filed for divorce in 2017 amid his sexual assault allegations, though their divorce wasn’t finalized until 2021.

While onstage at the Oscars, Adrien, who began dating Georgina in 2019, made sure to shoutout the kids in his life, sharing, “Dash and India, I know it's been a roller coaster, but thank you for accepting me into your life. Popsie’s coming home a winner.”

Of Georgina, he added, “I share this with my amazing partner, Georgina, who's not only reinvigorated my own self-worth, but my sense of value and my values.”

The sentimental call outs were only one moment of a lengthy speech—one that included The Brutalist star shushing the music and ultimately setting a record for the longest speech at the Academy Awards (totaling five minutes and 40 seconds).

During his time onstage, the 51-year-old—who previously won Best Actor in 2003 for his work in The Pianist—spoke to both what he considers the fragility of acting.

“It looks very glamorous,” he said of the profession, “and in certain moments it is, but the one thing that I've gained, having the privilege to come back here is to have some perspective: No matter where you are in your career, no matter what you've accomplished, it can all go away. I think what makes this like most special is the awareness, and the gratitude, that I have to still do the work that I love.”

In addition to honoring the work of his fellow nominees and thanking everyone who helped make his win a reality, Adrien also spoke to the themes of The Brutalist.

“I'm here once again to represent the lingering traumas and the repercussions of war,” he noted. “And systematic oppression and of antisemitism and racism and of othering, and I believe that I pray for a healthier and a happier and a more inclusive world, and I believe if the past can teach us anything, it's a reminder to not let hate go unchecked.”
