Grey's Anatomy actress Ellen Pompeo and husband Chris Avery stepped out together for Vanity Fair's 2025 Oscars party.

It’s time for a date night, stat.
Ellen Pompeo and Chris Avery—who have been married since 2007 and share children Stella, 17, Sienna, 11, and Eli, 8—stepped out for a rare red carpet date night at Vanity Fair's 2025 Oscars party.
The duo—who have been married since 2007 and share children Stella, 17, Sienna, 11, and Eli, 8—were all smiles as they posed for photographers at the star-studded after-party, with Chris rocking an oversized black suit and tie and Ellen donning a plunging long-sleeved black gown. The Grey's Anatomy actress wore her hair down and accessorized her look with diamond jewelry, a black and gold clutch and a fur jacket that she wore draped over one shoulder. The couple's night out comes as Ellen is preparing for the premiere of Good American Family, her first major acting role outside of Grey's since she started playing Meredith Grey on the Shonda Rhimes hit 20 years ago. The series—which premieres on Hulu March 19—follows the story of Natalia Grace, and the 55-year-old plays the Ukrainian orphan's mother.
And for the actress, not taking on any roles outside of Grey's allowed her to prioritize her home life with Chris and the kids
"I have a lot that I'm doing," the actress said on The Drew Barrymore Show in 2022. "I have three kids, so I take care of them. It's really important for me to be around for them and be more present for them."

And while she's loved focusing on raising her kids with Chris, Ellen explained that she was ready to take on new projects in her career.
"I gotta mix it up a little bit," she said. "I'm 53, my brain is like scrambled eggs. I gotta do something
new. You can't do The New York Times crossword puzzle every single day."
"I mean 19 years, that's more than people keep their kids in their house," Ellen continued. "People keep their kids in their house until they're 18 and then they send them off to college, so this is like me like going away to college."
