Jaime King Says Taylor Swift Is an "Amazing" Godmother

Jaime King is clearing the air about some of her legal troubles.

The Sin City actress broke her silence over a lawsuit her former landlord filed in January, which alleged that she owed roughly $42,580 in back rent.

“The situation with my landlord was resolved privately," King told Us Weekly on March 24. "It’s disappointing—but not surprising—to see someone try to exploit this moment for attention. I am currently focused on what matters most: my children."

King shares sons James, 12, and Leo, 10, with ex-husband Kyle Newman. Recently, the 45-year-old was ordered by a California judge to complete a six-month rehab program—which includes in weekly testing and aftercare—and a 26-week parenting program as part of a new custody agreement with the father of her children.

Newman—who was married to King for 13 years before their 2020 breakup—has been awarded sole primary custody of the kids as King finishes the requirements, per court documents obtained by E! News. King will only be allowed supervised visitation with the kids three times a week.

The agreement came nearly five years after King filed for divorce from the director. At the time, she also submitted a domestic violence prevention petition against Newman, alleging that he had staged an intervention despite her not having addiction issues.

In the petition, obtained by E! News, the Hart of Dixie alum said she agreed to go a treatment facility anyway, but was dismissed a few days later due to having no drugs or alcohol in her system.

Meanwhile, Newman filed a petition of his own, denying King's abuse allegation and accusing her of being a "chronic drug addict and alcoholic who refuses to acknowledge that she has a problem, let alone seek meaningful treatment."

And while King slammed his accusations as a "false narrative" at the time, Newman insisted that his requests were made with the wellbeing of their children in mind.

Since his split from King, Newman has welcomed two more children—son Etienne, 4, and daughter Beatrix, 19 months—with singer Cyn.
