Wicked will hit Peacock in mid-March, but fans who would rather not wait can pick up the Blu-ray now or buy it on demand

Wicked became an instant hit at the box office, with the movie musical debuting with a record-breaking $114 million on opening weekend. That number helped Wicked open as the biggest box office launch of all time for a Broadway adaptation. It also racked up awards nominations, including a Best Director win for John M. Chu at the Critics Choice Awards and a Best Picture nomination at the Oscars.
It was a huge box office draw, which is why it’s no surprise that distributor Universal Pictures wasn’t rushing to release it on streaming. But now we have a streaming date for the film — Wicked will land on Peacock on Friday, March 21.
If you’d rather not wait, or you’re looking to catch the film before the Oscars, you can purchase Wicked on VOD (video on demand) through Amazon Prime Video for $19.99 here. It’s available on UHD, HD, or SD, and costs the same regardless of the format purchased.
Prefer a physical copy? The film dropped on Blu-ray and DVD on Feb. 4. The physical release includes both the original, theatrical version as well as a singalong version.
Amazon also released a limited-edition Wicked box set that features the film on 4K UHD Blu-ray, along with a set of gold-tone metal bookends, exclusive merch, and collectible packaging, which quickly sold out and is available through secondhand Amazon sellers.

How to Stream Wicked Online
You can buy Wicked: Part One on Prime Video or if you’re willing to wait, you can stream the film on Peacock starting on Friday, March 21. Peacock costs just $7.99/month for access to live sports, plus on-demand TV shows, movies, and specials. Unfortunately, there’s no option to rent the film on Amazon. While you wait for the Wicked movie’s streaming release, you can listen to the original story on audiobook. Gregory Maguire’s “Wicked” is a retelling of The Wizard of Oz as told from the Wicked Witch’s point of view, and it’s available now on Audible.
ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK
If you want to watch the original Wicked Broadway musical, you’ll have to get tickets to see it in person, with the show running through November at the Gershwin in New York. You can listen to the original 2003 broadway cast soundtrack on CD. You can also purchase the soundtrack to the new Wicked movie here.
ORIGINAL FILM
The original Wizard of Oz film celebrated its 85th anniversary last year, and Amazon has a limited-edition 4K UHD Blu-ray steelbook release for $55 (as of this writing). This “theater edition” features the original 1939 film plus reproductions of the film’s official premiere invitation, replica ticket and program, eight lobby cards, and a set of four posters.
In addition to Grande and Erivo, Wicked stars Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero, Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible, Ethan Slater as Boq, and Jeff Goldblum as the Wizard. Wicked: Part two is set to premiere in theaters in November 2025. The film has the official title of Wicked: For Good.
