Oscars 2025: How Demi Moore Reacted to Mikey Madison’s Best Actress Win
Demi Moore snacked her way through the end of the night.
Despite losing Best Actress to Anora’s Mikey Madison at the 2025 Oscars, The Substance star—who had been considered a favorite after almost sweeping the rest of awards season—commemorated the evening with the perfect comfort food: French fries.
Following the ceremony, Demi and ex-husband Bruce Willis' youngest daughter Tallulah Willis, 31, shared a snap of her mother in a white bathrobe, her chihuahua Pilaf in her lap, with two massive bowls of fries on the table in front of her.
Demi—also mom to Rumer Willis, 36, and Scout Willis, 33—was all smiles as she held a fry up to the camera. Tallulah captioned the March 2 post, “MY winner.”
But despite the loss, when Mikey took to the stage, Demi made sure to respect the balance. In fact, when the Scream actress shared a shoutout to her fellow nominees—which, in addition to the G.I. Jane actress, included Cynthia Erivo, Fernanda Torres and Karla Sofía Gascón—Demi’s reaction proved there were no hard feelings.
"I also just want to recognize the thoughtful, intelligent, beautiful, breathtaking work of my fellow nominees," Mikey said onstage. "I'm honored to be recognized alongside all of you."
In response, Demi was shown on camera smiling earnestly as she held her hands to her heart.

Yet the 62-year-old has already proved herself a winner for her work in The Substance alongside Margaret Qualley, having taken home the win at the SAG Awards, Golden Globes and Critics Choice Awards. And even without the Oscar, Demi knows her the enduring value of her worth on the Hollywood stage.
In fact, she spoke to the validation her Golden Globes win provided in her acceptance speech at the time.
“Thirty years ago, I had a producer tell me that I was a popcorn actress, and at that time, I made that mean that this wasn’t something that I was allowed to have,” Demi told the audience during the Jan. 5 show. “That I could do movies that were successful, that made a lot of money, but that couldn’t be acknowledged. And I bought in, and I believed that.”

And after such comments taking a toll on her outlook, along came The Substance.
“As I was at a low point,” she continued, “I had this magical, bold, courageous, out of the box, absolutely bonkers script come across my desk called The Substance, and the universe told me, ‘You’re not done.’”
