Oscars 2025: How Demi Moore Reacted to Mikey Madison’s Best Actress Win
Jealousy isn’t a disease for Demi Moore.
After Anora star Mikey Madison was named Best Actress at the Academy Awards on March 2, the Substance actress—whom many had seen as a frontrunner in the category after Golden Globes and SAG Awards wins—reflected on her awards season experience and showed support for the new reigning champion.
“I’m so overwhelmed with gratitude for this journey,” Demi, 62, wrote on Instagram March 3. “It’s been a ride of a lifetime and we’re just getting started! So grateful for my team, my fellow nominees, and everyone who has made this experience full of joy and light.”
“And a huge congratulations to Mikey Madison,” she added with a red heart emoji. “Can’t wait to see what you do next.”
The Ghost actor’s praises were far from one-sided, as Mikey took a moment to acknowledge the other woman nominated in her category, which also included Cynthia Erivo, Fernanda Torres and Karla Sofía Gascón, during her Oscars speech.
“I also just want to recognize the thoughtful, intelligent, beautiful, breathtaking work of my fellow nominees,” the 25-year-old said while accepting the Best Actress Oscar. “I’m honored to be recognized alongside all of you.
As if one mention weren’t enough, the Scream actor also showed appreciation to her fellow contenders a month prior after winning Best Lead Actress at the 2025 BAFTAs.

"I’m just so in awe of all of you," Mikey gushed on stage Feb. 16. "You gave beautiful performances, and the highlight of all of this has been getting to know all of you."
Despite her loss at the Oscars, Demi’s performance in The Substance saw her earning some of her first major awards. And while delivering her acceptance speeches, she reflected on her persistence throughout her career.
"I am so, so grateful that I have continued over these so many years to try," Demi said at the 2025 SAG Awards Feb. 23, "and to sometimes succeed and sometimes fail, but be able to keep going."
